At CLA Tools, precision isn't just a promise — it’s built into every part we produce. One of the key technologies behind that precision is our fleet of 5-axis Haas machining centres, which give us the flexibility, speed, and accuracy needed to meet the demands of today’s complex components.
Whether we're machining aluminium housings for hydrogen engines or producing low-volume prototypes for the automotive sector, our Haas machines are at the core of our operations.
What Is 5-Axis Machining — And Why Does It Matter?
Traditional 3-axis CNC machines move in three linear directions: X, Y, and Z. But when you're working with intricate geometries, undercuts, or multi-sided parts, you need more flexibility.
That’s where 5-axis machining comes in.
Our Haas 5-axis machining centres add rotational movement along two additional axes (typically A and B), allowing the tool or the part to tilt and rotate. This enables:
One-hit machining – multiple sides of a part completed in a single setup
Tighter tolerances – less risk of error between setups
Faster turnaround – reduced fixture changes and manual intervention
Better surface finishes – ideal for complex surfaces and precision fits
On our shop floor, we operate a range of Haas UMC (Universal Machining Centres), carefully chosen for their versatility and reliability in high-precision environments.
Each machine is supported by our team of skilled engineers and fully integrated with Edgecam CAD/CAM software, allowing for efficient offline programming and simulation before the part even hits the machine.
We routinely handle:
Prototypes with complex 3D surfacing
Production batches with tight positional tolerances
Cast and billet parts in materials ranging from aluminium to stainless steel
Custom fixtures and jigs for automated manufacturing systems
Seamless Quality Assurance
Every part we produce on our 5-axis machines is backed by a robust quality process. Our temperature-controlled CMM inspection lab ensures dimensional accuracy down to the micron.
Whether we’re supplying to the automotive sector, defence projects, or cutting-edge hydrogen technology developers, we maintain full traceability and quality documentation, including PPAPs when required.
